Japan Transition Platform

A growing, resilient Japan, leading the global clean economy.

The JXP will bring government, industry, and capital together behind Japan's clean economy leadership.

Our vision

Japan has everything it needs to lead.

Japan’s world-class manufacturing base, engineering talent, and policy ambition provide everything needed to lead the global shift to a clean economy. Once established, JXP will bring the right people together, across government, industry, and finance, to help turn those strengths into Japan’s next source of economic growth, jobs, and global competitiveness.

JXP will convene senior leaders from government, industry, and capital around the opportunities where Japan’s strengths matter most, to commission research, design partnerships, and mobilise the investment that can turn Japan’s industrial capability into enduring advantage in the clean economy.

Our focus

Three pillars. One transition.

JXP’s work will focus on three interconnected pillars, each a domain where Japan has both enormous strength and a clear path to global leadership.

Industrial Capability

Japan is a manufacturing titan, producing 8% of the world’s manufactured goods, with global leadership in heat pumps, steel, and advanced materials. JXP will aim to help Japan’s clean-tech sector build the profile, partnerships, and pathways to convert that capability into competitive advantage.

Energy Security

Energy security will be central to Japan’s economic future. JXP will support the acceleration of domestic renewables and efficient electrification, helping strengthen Japan’s energy sovereignty while building the foundation for long-term industrial competitiveness.

Trade

Japan’s trading houses and export strengths position it for leadership in the emerging global clean trade economy. JXP will help build new clean commodity pathways, so Japan’s supply chains and trading relationships can lead on the products that will define the next decades.
